So I'm probably late with any kind of news already as most people seemed to be blogging
directly from the room, but anyway, Ray Ozzie and Scott Guthrie have delivered the
opening keynote now.
There were some great demos of Silverlight and
its capabilities. Highlights for me were:
-
Expression Studio is out. I hadn't used Expression Media before - looks great.
-
Support for managed code with a CLR for the Mac!
-
The amazingly quick download and install time for the Silverlight plugin (5 seconds
or something like that).
-
The great JavaScript vs. .NET Chess Demo from Scott
-
The support for Ruby (and dynamic languages in general).
I've been working with Universal Music on a demo
which didn't make it live into the keynote but here is a picture of Ray
Ozzie doing his thing with a screenshot of the application in the middle. OK,
it's not very clear so you'll have to trust me.
Gambling update: more of a 'down'-date really.
