Ah, the Commodore 64. You can keep your super-flexible PCs, your graphics and physics processors and your industrial design – I’ll take the C64 anyday.
Thanks to Brighty, our desk area in the office is the proud owner of a C64. I hadn’t actually laid hands on one for years, and was surprised at the overwhelmingly nostalgic feeling of punching the keys and particularly “Pressing Play on Tape” which brought back a lot of memories (mainly of waiting for hours with flashing screens and the ominous sounds of Gribbly’s Day Out being mangled…)
I love that there are still so many C64 enthusiasts out there, building emulators, or even Guitar Hero. I also love that you can get your hands on Zzap!64 online (I always wanted to work there).
Anyway, I came across this site: http://c64web.com which is serving a C64 port of Contiki directly to the web (apparently). Very cool.
There’s some nice links for Commodore enthusiasts from this page, including the the even more revered Vic-20 (my first computer naturally) and also to Lemon64.
The Lemon64 team also have a great t-shirt store at Spreadshirt. Fill yer boots.
