TechReady and Jon Landau

I’ve been in Seattle for the past week or so at our TechReady event. It’s a spectacular set-up at the convention centre with 5 days of technical content covering pretty much every technology. Hurts the brain and the eyes after a few days, but it’s really a great way to learn and connect with colleagues around the world.

This time I bumped into Japanese, Belgian and Aussie counterparts and spent some time chewing the fat, and ultimately being punished at darts by Greg. Thanks for the food too gang!

Apart from some interesting sessions from Ray Ozzie and other senior execs, we heard from Jon Landau (a film producer best known for Titanic) and heard about the complexities of movie production and his views on technology and art and how these things intertwine.

Meantime I’ve had my machine tweaked and it’s now fully Bitlockered so I feel good about data security and generally pleased that the process didn’t hurt my machine. Actually, at around a 2 hour process to config and encrypt I was surprised at how simple it was.

After all that, I’ll be cooling my boots at home for a week and then getting right back on it. It’s going to be an exciting time from PDC 08 out to MIX 09.
