No sooner had I said I was on the bandwagon than Ben pinged me to say he had the same machine and had been running Vista quite happily on it.
That sounded positive: I've been trying hard to get used to XP again, but much, much prefer Vista. Handily I remembered I had a spare copy of Vista Ultimate kicking around, so tried an install.
I'm pleased to say it's gone very well. There're useful instructions on the MSI forums. Main issue was that the networking devices weren't working, but that was easily remedied. The best news is that the rest of the built-in stuff: camera, SD card reader, and even the very useful FN key mappings (and control centre) are working great.
I'm also surprised at how zippy it is. I've ordered another GB of RAM in any case (because it's so cheap) but I'm perfectly happy on the 1GB I've got. It's also quite good fun running Media Centre on a machine this size. Just a shame MSI didn't include a TV Tuner ;)
